In March this year we were worried. We had no idea what kind of impact Covid-19 would have on our business, especially as a really large proportion of what we do is event gifting. We were of course worried for our own business but also for our wonderful event organising clients who were facing unprecedented challenges.
Whilst the events arena has certainly taken a hit we have also seen an explosion of creativity from organisers. ‘Pivot’ became a buzz word in industry and event organisers took it in their stride. Taking conferences, events and parties online has stretched the imaginations of skilled professionals and in turn educated and frequently delighted locked down participants. From sleight-of-hand magic lessons to baking classes and chocolate tasting, our organisers have elevated ‘Zoom’ away from a mainly a work meeting platform into an online space for fun, networking and the camaraderie missing from not being in the office.
Supplying gifts is a key feature of making these events work. From developing innovative ideas, procuring gifts and fulfilling & shipping to large audiences it is a job not for the faint hearted. Fortunately we were ideally placed with our considerable experience in just that skillset to help our clients host exciting online events. We worked on magic gifts for magic lessons, Wimbledon boxes for sports quizzes, spooky ghost story readings on Halloween and an abundance of sourdough making classes throughout lockdown!
Gifting has not just been seen as an important element of fun entertainment it has been integral in ensuring that the online conference experience has meaningful impact. Sign-up gifts have increased attendance numbers, tastefully branded swag has continued to distinguish brands in consumers' mind and tailored gifts have been part of an overall package which has created a memorable event experience. We delivered large scale conference gifts nationally and internationally from Mexico to India, London to Glasgow with organisers working remotely -trusting us to this important job.
Whilst we will welcome a return to physical conferences and events the past 8 months have shown us there is a newly created space for online conferences and events and as gifting is what we do, we look to be part of that. The feedback we have seen from clients is to go above and beyond, raise your game and make the event a 'must attend' starting from the initial invitation stage all the way through to thoughtful 'Thank You's' to speakers and attendees.
